When you have dark spots (hyperpigmentation) on your face, you may be thinking of how they got there. There are many causes (the number one cause is post-trauma due to pimple/acne or other infections) and natural home remedies for dark spots. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is one of the effective home remedies for dark
spot remover. It contains aloin@
TO-DO: Get aloe vera gel and cotton pads. Remove the gel
from the aloe vera leaf. Mix and turn the gel with a fork. Use a cotton swab
and gently apply it to the affected areas and wait for 25 minutes (practice
this daily for best results) before rinsing.
Cucumber
Cucumber contains antioxidants and silica-rich compounds
that contain skin-lightening properties. With these properties, it will help
dim the appearance of dark spots.
TODO: Blend a fresh cucumber and apply the paste to the affected areas. Do this 2 times daily.

Lemon Juice
Lemons contain flavonoids and other antioxidants; this will help in the treatment of dark spots
TODO: the materials needed are lemon juice, water, and cotton swabs. Mix both lemon juice and water together. Use cotton swabs to massage the affected areas and wait for 25 minutes (practice this daily for best results) before rinsing.
Note: Some skin types are allergic to lemon juice, if this is your case, you must avoid this home remedy. If this home remedy is your favorite, ensure you apply sunscreen before heading out.
Orange Peel
Most people don’t know that orange peel is an effective home remedy for dark spots. It contains hesperidin which has skin-lightening effects.
TO-DO: Materials needed are dried orange peel powder, water, and a cotton pad. Mix dried orange peel powder with clean water. Apply this with a cotton pad to the affected area and wait patiently for 25 minutes and rinse with clean water. Practice this 2 times a day.
Parsley
Parsley is rich in vitamin C. This may help in the treatment of dark spots.
TODO: the materials needed are 2 tablespoonfuls of parsley leaves and cotton pads. Apply this with a cotton pad to the affected area and wait patiently for 25 minutes and rinse with clean water. Practice this daily.
Turmeric
Turmeric lightens dark spots because it contains curcumin, an antioxidant with anti-melanogenic effects
TO-DO: the materials needed are turmeric powder, some water, and cotton pads. Mix turmeric powder vigorously with clean water to form a thick paste. Apply to the affected area with a cotton pad and wait patiently for 25 minutes and rinse with clean water. Practice this once a day.
Note: Some people are extremely allergic to turmeric. If this is your case, you must avoid this home remedy.
You can use any of these natural home remedies to remove dark spots.
Prevention Tips:
- It’s advisable to always wear sunscreen with SPF 40 before exposing yourself to the sun's rays.
- Avoid going out during the sunset or sun hours
- Always wear your sun-shade or sunglasses to protect your face from sun rays
Surprisingly, dark spots are usually fade on their own! Only if you want a quick recovery, you can use any of the above listed natural home remedies.
